About The Chiayi City International Band Festival
History

During the Japanese Colonial Period in 1931, Chiayi started its local student band. Due to a passionate response of the local residents, a strand of wind music started flourishing and growing. In year 1993, The Chiayi City Band Festival unfolded a brand new page for wind music in Chiayi. Music combines with arts. Creativity flows around the corners. Every cultural and creative industry is eager in developing their unique souvenir for the festival. At the end of each year, the entire city begins to be occupied with holding a huge music festival.

The Chiayi City International Band Festival including indoor concerts, outdoor concerts, wind band marathon, wind band street marching, formation transformation performance, instrument and music score display, essay contest, new year party, etc. International bands from all over the world as well as domestic Taiwanese bands all participated with high enthusiasm.
This cultural platform provides all of Taiwan’s symphonic bands with an important stage to perform. The “Chiayi City International Band Festival” is a musical festival that invites international symphonic bands to Taiwan for musical exchanges.
